Not every longtime Bears defensive star remains on good terms with the team.

But free agent cornerback Charles Tillman said he continues to talk to the team, and hopes to stay. He’s previously said he had options, and wasn’t worried about his future.

I guarantee you I will retire as a Chicago Bear,” Tillman told 670 The Score.

“The Bears and I are in good spirits,” he said. “There’s no bad blood, there’s nothing. We are in good spirits. There’s no bad blood with myself or Coach [Marc] Trestman. Like, everything is good. We’re are all on good terms.”

There’s some easy dot-connecting that could put Tillman with former coach Lovie Smith in Tampa, but Tillman seemed optimistic he could find a way to play a 12th year with the Bears, and perhaps beyond. Of course, he might just be talking about a ceremonial retirement, in case things don’t work out as he hopes.
