Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning did not have a good game in Super Bowl XLVIII. But he took issue with a suggestion that he had an embarrassing game.
Manning became visibly annoyed when he was asked by a reporter if he felt that the Broncos put on an embarrassing performance. Manning answered the question by saying he thinks putting it that way is an insult to himself and his teammates.
“We put in a lot of hard work and effort,” Manning said. “The word ‘embarrassing,’ I think, is an insulting word.”
Some day, when Manning looks back on his 2013 season, he’ll have a lot to be proud of. But while he may not be embarrassed when he looks back at this Super Bowl, he won’t be pleased, either. On this day, a great quarterback was beaten badly by a great defense.
