The first snap of Super Bowl XLVIII was followed closely by the first score of Super Bowl XLVIII.

Manny Ramirez’s snap went over the head of quarterback Peyton Manning and was recovered in the end zone by Denver running back Knowshon Moreno for a safety. That’s a quick 2-0 lead for the Seahawks, the quickest in Super Bowl history at 12 seconds. It was quite loud for the first play, which took place from the Denver 14 and the Seahawks’ 12th man did its job in the same amount of seconds.

It’s now three Super Bowls in a row with a safety and a quick hole for the Broncos, who are now trying to keep the Seahawks off the board on Seattle’s first offensive possession of the game.

Devin Hester’s game-opening kickoff return for a touchdown in Super Bowl XLI was the previous record-holder for fastest score in a Super Bowl.
