Cromartie on smoking weed: “We’re just going to do it anyway”

Cromartie

Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie expects to be released this offseason, making him a free agent.

And if he hits the market, it appears he might be interested in signing with the Broncos or Seahawks for reasons that go beyond the fact they were just in the Super Bowl.

Cromartie said in an interview with Thisis50.com, a website launched by rapper 50 Cent, that he thinks the NFL should take marijuana off the banned substances list.

“They need to just let it go,” Cromartie said, via Brian Costello of the New York Post. “We’re just going to do it anyway. They just need to let it go. They need to go ahead and say, ‘Y’all go ahead, smoke it, do what you need to do.’ “

The NFL will almost certainly be interested in hearing more on this topic. Although Commissioner Roger Goodell said he would be open to learn more about weed’s medicinal properties as a concussion treatment, he’s not ready to change the league’s drug policy.
