Kevin Vickerson “should be ready” for OTAs

The Broncos were down a handful of starters because of injuries at the end of the season and one of them expects to be back in time for OTAs this spring.

Defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson injured his hip 11 games into the season and wound up on season-ending injured reserve as a result. Vickerson said he “couldn’t hold back” tears about missing the Super Bowl, but that he “should be ready” to rejoin his teammates when they get back to work later this year.

“Everything is getting better,” Vickerson said, via the team’s website. “A long offseason for me — starting out rehabbing, I already started and the strengthening process. So now it’s just getting back in shape and getting the strength back, too.”

Vickerson played a big role in the run defense before getting hurt, although rookie Sylvester Williams and Terrance Knighton continued to do well in that area after Vickerson left the lineup. All three are under contract for next season, which should enable the team to keep the same rotation in place at the position next season.

  1. Vick is getting cut, would save the broncos $3 million. Add that to Champ getting cut, plus Dreessen and Thamme getting cut, the broncos could re-sign DRC, Chris Harris, and sign a pass rusher and another corner.

  2. Can’t cut this guy logical… he is exactly the sort of passinate and down and dirty type of player we could have used in the bowl. Could use another 21 of
these guys. Big Vic wouldn’t have let the seahawks push him around. Definitely bye to Champ, TE’s, and Zane and Decker and Adams. Maybe they could keep Decker and I wouldn’t pay DRC more than 8 mil. Smart thing would be to lock up Trevathan, harris, while they are cheaper and target some physical tough playmakers like Brandon spikes at Mike, Donte Whitner at ss and maybe Anquan Boldin if they can’t get Decker at a home town discount. Those are three players that would bring more physicality and toughness to the game. I also think they should move Franklin to guard because He got worked in the super bowl. Not fast enough to play tackle. Maybe clark would be a better right tackle or sign Jordan gross who is a physical beast!
