Eagles sign a wide receiver

Earlier this week, Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman said that the team had a complicated situation at wide receiver with both Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin set to become free agents next month.

While the Eagles figure out the best way to sort through the complications, they’ve added another wide receiver to the roster. The team announced Friday that they have signed Joe Anderson as a free agent.

Anderson played six games for the Bears in 2013 before being placed on injured reserve in early November. He was waived/injured later in the month, leaving him free to sign with any team ahead of the March 11 opening of free agency.

Anderson had no catches in those six games and he had none in three 2013 contests, so it’s not like his arrival sends any clear signal about the team’s intentions regarding Cooper or Maclin. Anderson did have some good moments in preseason with the Bears the last two seasons, though, and was a regular on special teams before getting hurt.
