Lorenzen injures ankle, get carried off by four people

Lorenzen

The sudden resurgence of oversized quarterback Jared Lorenzen has ended almost as suddenly as it began.

Lorenzen suffered an ankle injury when the nimble narwhal was hit low while scrambling toward the end zone in an indoor football game pitting the Northern Kentucky River Monsters against the Erie Explosion.

He was carried off the field by four people, in a moment slightly less heroic than the time teammates carried Marshall quarterback Byron Leftwich down the field so that he could keep playing.

Deadspin has the video of the hit. Lorenzen reportedly left via ambulance.

The former Kentucky quarterback won a Super Bowl ring with the Giants in 2007. Several days ago, video of his uncanny speed and agility (given his current girth) inspired various levels of awe.
