Michael Hill returns to Packers

The Packers lost running back Michael Hill to the Buccaneers last season when Tampa signed Hill off the Green Bay practice squad in the wake of the season-ending injury suffered by Doug Martin.

Hill was released by the Buccaneers last week, however, and he’s decided to make his way back to the Packers. His agent Harold Lewis said Hill signed with the team on Tuesday after also receiving interest from the Colts, Chargers and 49ers.

“He felt like that was home for him,” Lewis said, via Tom Silverstein the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “That’s where he wanted to be.”

Hill was on the Packers’ 53-man roster for a few weeks last season and returned one kickoff for 19 yards. He had nine carries for 23 yards to go with a pair of catches for the Bucs.

Silverstein reports former running backs coach and current quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt was unhappy to lose Hill last season, which could help him in a battle with DuJuan Harris and Johnathan Franklin for snaps behind Eddie Lacy in 2014.
