The Lions added some defensive line depth, bringing in a guy who had passed through before among his many stops.

According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the Lions signed defensive tackle Corvey Irvin.

He was with them briefly in 2011 but didn’t play in a game. His last stop was in Dallas, as one of the Cowboys’ many injury replacements on the defensive line.

The former Panthers third-round pick has also spent time with the Buccaneers, Jaguars and Bears.

The Lions are looking for depth there, though their top three (Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley and C.J. Mosley), are all back next year. Andre Fluellen is an unrestricted free agent, so Irvin gives them some depth if he doesn’t come back.
