Jets re-sign cornerbacks Ellis Lankster, Darrin Walls

The Jets are keeping a couple of cornerbacks around, agreeing to terms six days before the start of free agency.

Ellis Lankster and Darrin Walls, both of whom would have become free agents on Tuesday, have re-signed.

Lankster is a key special teams player who was set to become an unrestricted free agent. Last season he played a total of 382 special teams plays, the most on the team, and had 20 tackles in kick coverage.

Walls played in all 16 games last year and started three at cornerback. He would have become a restricted free agent if he hadn’t re-signed.

  1. These signings could mean the end of the 45 year drought. Before long Rex will be boldly predicting another Jets Super Bowl.

  2. And still these 2 corners are better than anything in Minnesota or that so called secondary in New England who couldn’t cover themselves w/ a blanket!!! Go ahead make your argument for Talib but he’s not resigned and Rhodes in MN is a joke of a first rounder.

  3. Wow jetfan74 butthurt much? Idk what you’ve been watching but Rhodes played well in his first season. Much much better than anything Millner did he was terrible and got beat all the time and ur former 1st rd pick Wilson hasn’t been much better. Rhodes will thrive in our new man coverage D which is what he’s best at along with our two other great DB’s H. Smith and Munnerlyn and also others like Cox, Robinson, and Prater all who have shown flashes to be very good and if anyone can help them it’s our new awesome Head Coach Zimmer! Plus there’s still the draft to come. This secondary is gonna be much improved!
