Bears sign Trevor Scott

There are a handful of NFL veterans free to sign with any team right now because they were cut by their previous employers.

Most of those players have been cut in the last few weeks as teams prepare for free agency, but some were cut way back in the regular season. Defensive end Trevor Scott was a member of the latter group before signing with the Bears on Thursday.

Scott played four games for the Buccaneers last season before his release. He’s also played for the Patriots and Raiders and has 16.5 sacks over the course of his career.

The Bears re-signed Jeremiah Ratliff this week, but still have Nate Collins, Henry Melton and Corey Wootton heading toward free agency. Scott’s chances of being more than an offseason depth signing likely rest on how the team sorts things out once March 11 rolls around.
