Bills adopt variable ticket pricing

Bills

Add the Bills to the list of teams that will adjust ticket prices based on the quality of the games, or lack thereof.

The team announced that variable pricing will be adopted this year at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Specifically, the pricing will be “tiered” for preseason and regular-season games. The specific numbers will be unveiled after the 2014 schedule is released.

The slate of regular-season games already is known. The Bills will host the Dolphins, Jets, Patriots, Chiefs, Chargers, Packers, Vikings, and Browns. It’s unclear whether the pricing will be influenced by the placement of games on the calendar; if you hadn’t heard, the weather in Buffalo can get a little frightful in November and December.

The Bills also will apply a “modest” price increase for season tickets in most sections of the stadium.

The Bills struggled last year to sell out Ralph Wilson Stadium. On multiple occasions, the team purchased unsold non-premium tickets at 34 cents on the dollar to allow the games to be televised locally.
