Henry Melton tweets he’s joining the Dallas Cowboys

Defensive tackle Henry Melton played his college football in the state of Texas. He’ll now be returning to his home state to continue his professional career as well.

Melton tweeted a thank you to the Chicago Bears for the first five years of his career, but said he will continue his career “with a star on my helmet.

We’re taking that to mean the Dallas Cowboys.

Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports it is a multi-year deal.

Melton played at the University of Texas before joining the Bears for the last five years. He was give the franchise tag by Chicago last year and subsequently tore his ACL after just three games, ending his season. With the Cowboys, Melton will be reunited with former Bears defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli.

In addition to the Cowboys, Melton drew interest from the Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Rams in free agency.
