The Giants have been somewhat uncharacteristically busy buyers on the free agent market this offseason and it doesn’t look like they’re ready to slow down.

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that the team has scheduled a visit with tackle Charles Brown. Brown entered the league as a 2010 second-round pick of the Saints, spent the last four seasons in New Orleans and began last season as the starting left tackle.

He remained in that role for 14 weeks, but was benched after Rams defensive end Robert Quinn abused him in a December game. Rookie Terron Armstead replaced Brown in the lineup and held onto the job through the Saints’ playoff loss to the Seahawks. That pretty much signaled the end of Brown’s time in New Orleans.

The Giants have Will Beatty coming off a rough year of his own at left tackle and rookie Justin Pugh was at right tackle when the season ended, leaving an opening for an experienced swing tackle who could jump into the lineup if needed.
