Terrell Thomas visited with Panthers

The Panthers lost cornerback Captain Munnerlyn in free agency and Drayton Florence remains a free agent, which leaves the team in need of some help at cornerback heading into the 2014 season.

One possibility is Terrell Thomas, who Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports visited with the Panthers on Tuesday. Thomas returned to the Giants in 2013 after three torn ACLs (much like Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis) and two seasons spent on injured reserve, and played in all 16 games while handling himself well on the field.

Thomas has also visited with the Raiders, who have signed a pair of his former Giants teammates since free agency opened. Dave Gettleman, another familiar face from the Giants, is Carolina’s general manager.

Thomas isn’t the only cornerback on Carolina’s radar, though. Garafolo reports that the team is also “nosing” around Antoine Cason, who went from starting 45 games over three years with the Chargers to a limited role as a reserve in Arizona last season.

Melvin White, Josh Thomas, Josh Norman and the recently re-signed James Dockery make up the current cornerback corps in Carolina.
