There are a lot of ways to describe how little the current members of the Panthers’ receiving corps have done in the NFL, including the fact that they had fewer catches as a group in 2013 than Kevin Cone had while playing primarily a special teams role for the Falcons.
Cone had one catch for 12 yards, which is about as modest as totals can get during a season that saw the Falcons look for any and all help when Roddy White and Julio Jones were out of the lineup with injuries. Until you look at the zero catches last season by members of the Panthers’ group, of course.
We’re mentioning Cone because his agent told D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution that his client will visit with the Panthers on Friday. The Jaguars are also reportedly showing some interest in Cone.
At this point, you can’t really rule anything out for the Panthers at receiver but any interest in Cone likely comes from his work as a special teamer. He was not tendered as an exclusive rights free agent by the Falcons.
