An early free agent visit to the Seahawks sparked optimism that Packers tight end Jermichael Finely was close to a return.
That’s apparently not the case.
According to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Finley “is at least two months away and maybe several months more from being in position to sign with a team.”
Finley’s recovering from spinal fusion surgery, and the Packers had expressed some optimism about retaining him. The Seahawks will know him as well as any other team, given Seahawks General Manager John Schneider’s ties there.
So if Schneider was pumping the brakes, it’s reasonable to think that Finley needs more time to get himself well, and that the status quo will continue.
