The Jaguars are taking a flier on a fullback who played for a college program noted for its strong ground games.

The club has been awarded Bradie Ewing on waivers from Atlanta, the NFL disclosed in its Tuesday transactions.

A Wisconsin product, the 24-year-old Ewing was a fifth-round pick of the Falcons in 2012. At the time, now-Jaguars G.M. David Caldwell was Atlanta’s director of player personnel.

Ewing has been limited to just two games in his first two NFL seasons because of knee and shoulder injuries. He joins Shaun Chapas and Will Ta’ufo’ou as the Jaguars’ blocking backs.
