Jeff Fisher likes the receivers the Rams already have

With the second pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, the Rams can have almost anyone they want.

But while a game-breaking receiver talent like Clemson’s Sammy Watkins might be tempting, Rams coach Jeff Fisher seems confident enough in his existing young receivers to pass on a player he raved about.

I think with what we have on the roster right now, we can provide [quarterback] Sam [Bradford] with the talent to where we can win a lot of games,” Fisher said, via Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “We’re expecting improvement. We’re still seeing improvement from [receivers], for example, Brian Quick, Chris Givens who are going into their third year.

“We expect significant improvement and more contribution from Tavon [Austin] and Stedman [Bailey]. And I’m not disappointed in any way in what Austin Pettis has done in a backup role.”

While Watkins is a phenomenal talent, the Rams have bigger needs, particularly on the offensive line and secondary.

And given their penchant for making moves, there’s no guarantee they’re picking second anyway.
