The Falcons have retained their lone restricted free agent.

Cornerback Robert McClain re-signed with the club on Friday, the NFL disclosed in its transactions.

The 25-year-old McClain played all 16 games (six starts) for the Falcons in 2013, defending five passes and recording 66 tackles. He is entering his third season with Atlanta. Previously, McClain played for Jacksonville (2011) and Carolina (2010). The Panthers selected him in the seventh round four years ago.

McClain was one of just five restricted free agents tendered contract offers in which interested teams would have had to surrender a draft pick to sign them away. In the case of McClain, a team would have had to give up its seventh-round pick if the Falcons declined to match an offer sheet.
