Titans sign Eric Olsen

The Titans signed veteran offensive lineman Chris Spencer on Wednesday to add to their depth on the interior of the line and they made another move on Thursday to shore things up even more.

Tennessee announced that they have signed guard/center Eric Olsen on a one-year contract. Olsen’s arrival may mean that Uche Nwaneri and Garrett Reynolds will have to look elsewhere for work after visiting with the Titans in recent days.

Olsen spent the 2012 season with the Saints, playing in all 16 games and starting four times, but was released by the team last year. He caught on with the Steelers, but didn’t wind up playing in any regular season games. Olsen’s NFL career started as a sixth-round pick of the Broncos in 2010.

The Titans have Brian Schwenke pencilled in as their starting center between guards Andy Levitre and Chance Warmack. It is hard to imagine Olsen or Spencer doing anything to change that while they compete for backup snaps heading into next season.
