Joe Flacco: Additions give us a chance to do new things

With Dennis Pitta out of the lineup with a hip injury, a stagnant running game and no receiver filling the void left by Anquan Boldin, the Ravens offense underwhelmed during the 2013 season.

It’s little surprise, then, that the team has spent the last month making moves designed to remedy those issues. They’ve signed wide receiver Steve Smith and tight end Owen Daniels, traded for center Jeremy Zuttah and re-signed the now healthy Pitta to a long-term deal. Quarterback Joe Flacco says that the new additions “are going to do nothing but help” the team get moving in new directions on offense.

“It’s a new year, a new beginning and a chance to do new things,” Flacco said, via the Baltimore Sun. “I’m always excited. I think we’ve got a good team and an offense that can put up some numbers. So it’s just on us to do it.”

On top of all the additions to the roster, the Ravens also have a new offensive coordinator in Gary Kubiak. That guarantees new things will happen on offense and they should be better if the new faces live up to the team’s expectations.
