The Bengals lost a restricted free agent wide receiver early in free agency when Andrew Hawkins jumped across the state to join the Browns.
They’re holding onto the other wideout they tendered at the lowest level, however. The team announced Tuesday that Dane Sanzenbacher has re-signed with the team. Sanzenbacher stood to make $1.4 million under the terms of the team’s tender, but terms of the deal weren’t announced.
“I’ve had a sense of comfort in Cincinnati. I’ve found it to be an easy place to play,” Sanzenbacher said, via Joe Danneman of FOX19.
Sanzenbacher signed with the Bengals after the Bears waived him on Christmas Eve in 2012 and caught six passes for 61 yards and a touchdown last season. He had 28 catches over parts of two seasons in Chicago.
With Hawkins gone, the Bengals will be looking for be looking for help at other slot receiver options in 2014. Sanzenbacher will likely compete for snaps in that role,
