Bears waive Cheta Ozougwu

The Bears waived defensive end Cheta Ozougwu on Tuesday, the club announced.

The 25-year-old Ozougwu played in the Bears’ final seven games of 2013, notching a sack and forcing a fumble in the club’s overtime win vs. Baltimore. Overall, Ozougwu appeared in nine regular season games for Chicago in the last two seasons, playing 87 snaps for the club, according to Pro Football Focus.

Ozougwu (6-2, 255) was a seventh-round pick of the Texans in 2011. He played collegiately at Rice.

The Bears have added six defensive ends this offseason: Lamarr Houston, Jared Allen, Willie Young, Israel Idonije, Trevor Scott and Austen Lane.
