Jake Matthews has met with Bills, Falcons

For a guy who’ll be a sure first-rounder, with NFL pedigree, Jake Matthews has gotten less attention than Texas A&M teammates Johnny Manziel and Mike Evans.

But he’s getting plenty of attention from teams picking in the top 10.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Matthews has visited the Bills, and worked out for the Falcons as well.

The Falcons have the sixth overall choice, and desperately need to upgrade on either line with their first pick.

The Bills could use some help at tackle, but might not be able to get to Matthews without moving up.

While Matthews doesn’t have the kind of eye-popping measurables such as Auburn’s Greg Robinson, the son of Hall of Fame guard Bruce Matthews could be one of the safest picks in the first round.

  1. The Falcons are one of those teams that are hoping some QBs get scooped up before they are on the clock. They could trade up or they will be looking to find a partner that wants a QB if the draft goes like this:

    1 – Clowney
    2 – Robinson
    3 – Mack
    4 – Watkins
    5 – Matthews

  2. Most teams automatically know you build from the trenches out to have success in the NFL……..

Cordy Glenn is a very good LT. You do not draft a RT in the top-10…get Seantrel Henderson in the 3rd round, after you get a WR and TE, Evans & Seferian-Jenkins!

  4. I’d rather Matthews over Robinson. Robinson is more raw with upside but I prefer solid and stable with good nfl bloodlines. Wish he could somehow slip to 12 but extremely doubtful.

  5. robinson versus matthews is a philosophical thing if you want to pound the rock you take robinson as he is a mauler , but if you are a pass heavy team you take matthews (if you have a choice like the rams most likely will. my guess is the pass happy falcons will catch a break and matthews will be there at #6) i have it going

    1. clowney
    2. robinson
    3. watkins
    4. manziel
    5. mack
    6. matthews
