According to multiple reports, the 49ers will play their regular season debut at Levi’s Stadium against an opponent which should be very, very happy to no longer have to set foot in Candlestick Park.

The Bears will play in the first regular season game in the 49ers’ new home on September 14, Harry Teinowitz of 87.7 FM “The Game” in Chicago reported Wednesday. Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area also reported the 49ers would host Chicago in Week Two after playing at Dallas in Week One.

The Bears lost their final six regular season games at Candlestick, and they were also soundly defeated in the 1994 divisional round at San Francisco. Chicago’s final regular season win in Candlestick — a game remembered for William “Refrigerator” Perry’s first turn as a running back — was way back in 1985.

Teinowitz also reports the Bears will host Buffalo on Sunday, September 7 and will have primetime games against the Jets (Monday, September 22), Cowboys (Thursday, December 4) and Saints (Monday, December 15).
