Bengals waive Zac Robinson

Cincinnati Bengals v Atlanta Falcons

Cincinnati Bengals v Atlanta Falcons

Kevin C. Cox

The Bengals are down to two quarterbacks on their roster a week before the draft gets underway.

Cincinnati announced Friday that they have waived Zac Robinson, leaving Andy Dalton, Jason Campbell and Josh Johnson as the remaining quarterbacks on the roster. Robinson was a seventh-round pick of the Patriots in 2010 and he’s also spent time with the Seahawks and Lions without seeing any regular season action.

Because Robinson’s chances of seeing the field for the Bengals were somewhere between slim and none, it’s the kind of unremarkable move that happens dozens of times between now and the start of the regular season.

With Dalton entering the final year of his contract and the Bengals still mulling how much of a commitment they want to make to Dalton in the future, another quarterback spot could go to a draftee that the team sees as a 2015 option in case they wind up moving in a different direction at quarterback.
