As the Seahawks prepare for the 2014 draft, they also prepare to lock up cornerback Richard Sherman long beyond 2014.
Per a league source, talks between the Seahawks and the start cornerback continue. But there’s currently no deal.
Several reports have suggested that an agreement could be reached before the draft begins on Thursday. According to the source, it’s still realistic that the deal will be finalized this week, but that based on the parties’ current positions it won’t be easy.
Sherman became the team’s focal point after recently signing safety Earl Thomas to a long-term deal. The defending Super Bowl champions wisely have commenced the process of taking care of the guys who have helped the Seahawks climb the mountain -- and who will aid significantly in their efforts to stay there.
