When Bengals cornerback Leon Hall tore his left Achilles in 2011, he was able to come back in time to participate on the first day of training camp.

Hall tore his right Achilles last season and things appear to be on a similar trajectory this time around. Hall received clearance to take part in football drills last month and said Monday that he feels like he’s in a similar place to the one he was in during his last rehab.

“Probably a couple of months ago I realized that my right one was ahead just kind of comparing what I was doing at a certain point in the rehab with my other one a couple years ago,” Hall said, via the team’s website. “We were probably a couple of weeks ahead, which after talking it over with [Bengals director of rehab] Nick [Cosgray} we slowed down a little bit because we felt like there’s really no rush. I hurt my right one earlier in the season so technically I have three more weeks of time, so we’re trying to utilize the extra three weeks and just make sure that everything is going smoothly.”

A complete recovery from Hall would be a major boost to the Bengals defense, although they probably can’t assume things will play out that way even if the signs have been positive thus far. That could mean a cornerback gets added to the roster at the draft later this week.
