Quarterback Josh McCown had a good time throwing the ball to the big receivers in Chicago last year and it appears the Bucs are doing everything they can to give him the same kind of group in Tampa.
They used their first-round pick to add the 6-5 Mike Evans to the 6-5 Vincent Jackson at wide receiver and they used the 38th pick to select Washington tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins. Seferian-Jenkins has an inch on the two receivers, which makes for quite an imposing trio when it comes to going up and getting balls come next season.
Seferian-Jenkins didn’t work out at the combine because of a broken foot, but he has since worked out for teams and shown the same kind of athleticism that he displayed with the Huskies. The Bucs signed Brandon Myers as a free agent to go with the returning Tim Wright at tight end, but Seferian-Jenkins should find playing time in the red zone at the very least early in his career with Tampa.
The Bucs had the second-worst passing offense in the league in 2013. Based on their first two picks, they seem bent on changing that.
