Eagles’ 15 undrafted free agents include guy nicknamed “Murderleg”

The Eagles have announced their 15-man class of undrafted free agents, and one of them has a great nickname.

Vanderbilt kicker Casey Spear was dubbed Murderleg by folks in Tennessee. According to Sheil Kapadia of PhilyMag.com, Spear likes to launch himself at opponents on kickoff coverage.

In that case, his real name may be even more appropriate than his nickname.

Also added by the Eagles were Oregon State guard Josh Andrews, Cincinnati tight end Blake Annen, Morgan State guard Karim Barton, LSU receiver Kardon Boone, Florida tight end Trey Burton, Toledo running back David Fluellen, Alabama cornerback John Fulton, USC tackle Kevin Graf, Texas guard Donald Hawkins, Missouri running back Henry Josey, Oregon defensive tackle Wade Keliikipi, Oklahoma State safety Daytawion Lowe, Florida A&M defensive end Frank Mays, and Rutgers receiver Quron Pratt.

  1. Im excited to see what Kadron Boone and Quron Pratt can do in Chip’s offense, but i think the steal of this class(and one of the steals of the draft) is FS Daytawion Lowe. Also, Eagles should take a look at UDFA CB Loucheiz Purifoy. First-round talent who failed a drug test(see: Da’Rick Rogers last year)

  2. I don’t think the Eagles coaching staff is going to encourage their kicker to launch himself at opponents. It doesn’t sound like the best way to keep their kicker healthy. So I guess “Murderleg” is going to have to tone it down if he wants to be legitimate competition to Alex Henry.

  3. I have a feeling we are going to be better then last year, with tougher schedule and my prediction for the season is that Eagles go 10-6 for the season, win the division, have top 5 offense and top 10 defense because I like what they got in the draft on defense, Jaylin Watkins is one of my favorite picks out of all the rest, being able to play CB and S and good at both. Howie and Chip decided they plan too start him at CB because he’s to small weight wise to play S, so look for him to compete at CB with either Broadly Flecther or Carry Williams. Still need a good MLB to compete, or play behind Democo Ryans . Honestly I believe they go deep in the playoffs and beyond. So I really look forward to this season, looking forward to watching my Eagles!–

  4. I don’t think it’s premature to guarantee a Superbowl … these UDFAs easily put “Dream Team 2014” over the top.
