The Chargers know how to take care of business.
Since rookie deals are pretty boilerplate these days, they decided to do a whole bunch of them at once.
According to Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego, the Chargers signed four draft picks today — third-round guard Chris Watt, fifth-round nose tackle Ryan Carrethers, sixth-round running back Marion Grice and seventh-round wide receiver Tevin Reese.
That leaves just first-round cornerback Jason Verrett and second-round linebacker Jerry Attaochu unsigned, and there’s no reason they should be a problem.
Frankly, more teams ought to do business this way, if only to give the cap guys who have been grinding numbers in the extra time leading up to the draft a few weeks of comp time.
