The Packers drafted three wide receivers and they’ve signed two of them.

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that the team has signed wide receiver Jared Abbrederis to a four-year contract. Abbrederis, a fifth-round pick, won’t be traveling far to get to his new team. He played collegiately at Wisconsin and built a reputation as a sure-handed receiver while catching 78 passes for the Badgers last season.

The Packers haven’t announced that signing or that of seventh-round pick Jeff Janis, although Janis’ signing shows up on the league’s daily transaction report. Janis was the 236th pick who will be trying to prove that it’s not too big a leap from Division II Saginaw Valley State to the NFL. Both rookies will join second-round pick Davante Adams and Jarrett Boykin in the mix for snaps behind Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb.

The transaction report also brings word that the Packers have waived defensive back James Nixon with a failed physical designation. Nixon played three games last season before going on injured reserve with a knee injury.
