Earlier this week, Cardinals coach Bruce Arians expressed a desire to add another option at inside linebacker.

“I’d like to add another player if there’s one possible who can beat this lineup,” Arians said, via Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. “I like some of our young guys and a couple of the rookies are looking OK. So, we’ll just see how it goes.”

There aren’t a ton of veteran options available at the position at this point in the offseason, but Weinfuss reports one of them paid a visit to the Cardinals on Thursday. Ernie Sims was in Arizona to meet with the team.

Sims’ name has come up in Dallas in the wake of Sean Lee’s injury because Sims played for the Cowboys for the last two seasons, but the Cardinals may have a similar need for a fill-in early in the season if Daryl Washington is suspended by the league. Sims had 86 tackles in 22 games, with 12 starts, for the Cowboys in 2012 and 2013.
