The General Manager has spoken, so you can apparently cross Brian Urlacher off the Cowboys’ list.

Asked about the possibility of a deal for the longtime Bears middle linebacker, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones replied with a succinct “No”, according to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com.

The Cowboys are presently looking at a lot of in-house replacements for Sean Lee, who tore his ACL at the beginning of OTAs.

The pool thinned with former Cowboys linebacker Ernie Sims going to Arizona yesterday, so they’re going to look at players such as Justin Durant and youngsters Anthony Hitchens and DeVonte Holloman for now.

“Someone actually tweeted me something about it,” defensive tackle Henry Melton said when asked about his former teammate with the Bears. “I haven’t heard any truth behind [Urlacher playing] it but ‘Lach’ knows the defense and he would be a good replacement, I feel like he would fit in.”

Of course, he would have to want to come back first, which there’s no indication he wants.
