The Saints had a big absence in the middle Tuesday.

Nose tackle John Jenkins was out of voluntary OTAs. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Jenkins had minor pectoral surgery and could be sidelined until training camp.

The mammoth (359 pounds) nose tackle figures to play an even larger role this season, and could push for a starting job in the middle of their 3-4 defense.

The 2013 third-rounder hadn’t participated in recent OTAs.
