Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson had to leave one of the team’s OTAs a couple of weeks ago because of tightness in his hamstring, which was hardly the start that the team was looking for from a player they acquired to provide a jolt to their offense.

Jackson said it was “no big issue,” but still sat out all of last week’s work to give himself time to heal. The time off didn’t bring Jackson all the way back to 100 percent, according to head coach Jay Gruden, but things improved enough for him to return to action with his teammates during Wednesday’s practice session.

“He feels good running straight, it’s just sometimes coming out of cuts that he’s sometimes tentative, but we’re watching him,” Gruden said, via Mike Jones of the Washington Post. “Obviously, we hoped he could run this week. That’s why we kept him out last week. It was a minor deal, he thought and we thought, and once he got clearance from Larry [Hess, the team’s head trainer] and we felt good about it, he was out there running. It was good to see him out there pushing it. ... He’s still probably not 100 percent yet. He’s still working through a little bit of pain a little bit.”

Jones reports that Jackson participated fully in the practice and was targeted often on passing plays, so it seems the Redskins weren’t overly concerned about things taking a turn for the worse. Assuming all remains clear, his brief absence will be long forgotten by the start of camp.
