Mike Goodson, the Jets’ troubled running back, has skipped all of the team’s voluntary work this offseason. And now he’s skipping mandatory work as well.
Goodson was a no-show at the start of today’s mandatory minicamp, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. That means he’s likely to be fined, and it raises further questions about whether he has any future with the team.
The Jets signed Goodson last offseason and he made them regret it almost immediately, with an arrest for possessing marijuana and an illegal weapon, followed by a four-game suspension. When he finally got on the field he lasted just two games before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
At this point, the Jets are probably just about ready to move on from Goodson. With Chris Johnson now on the roster to join running backs Bilal Powell and Chris Ivory, there wasn’t much room in the backfield for Goodson anyway. By no-showing a mandatory minicamp, Goodson is likely sealing his fate.
