The early returns on running back Knowshon Moreno haven’t been good.
And there may be a reason. Or an excuse, depending on how you look at it.
According to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Moreno is dealing with what was referred to as both a “medical issue,” and an injury.
Moreno has worked on a limited basis this week, and apparently has been dealing with whatever is wrong with him for a “a couple of weeks.”
The Dolphins signed him to a one-year, $3 million deal this offseason with the plan that he’d become the lead back they’ve lacked. Instead, he’s lagged behind Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas through the spring.
“Knowshon’s had a good camp. He brings a lot of energy into the building every single day. He’s very good in the meeting rooms,” coach Joe Philbin said. “He’s picked up the system well and he’s competed hard on the practice field.”
There have been concerns about his conditioning in the past, but if he’s injured, that should explain part of it.
