Former Bills quarterback Jim Kelly attended Buffalo’s minicamp practice on Thursday and addressed the team, according to multiple reports on Twitter.

Kelly, who has been fighting a reoccurrence of cancer, reportedly told the Bills they are a “special team” with playoff potential.

“Let’s start playing games in January,” Kelly said, according to the Bills’ Twitter feed.

Kelly also delivered some big picture advice to the club.

“Make this your team, make this special,” Kelly said, according to Mike Rodak of ESPN.com. “When it’s all over, all you have is memories.”

The 54-year-old Kelly played all 11 NFL seasons with Buffalo (1986-1996) and still lives in the area. He was released from the hospital less than two weeks ago after concluding radiation treatment.
