Revis is a happy camper in New England

Greg Schiano and Bill Belichick are friends who have some similarities to their coaching styles, but star cornerback Darrelle Revis says after playing for Schiano’s Bucs last year and signing with Belichick’s Patriots this year that he sees a major difference: Belichick’s style works.

Revis previously said he doesn’t miss anything other than the weather in Tampa and that Schiano’s coaching style didn’t work, but Revis praised the way things work in New England.

“They work their butts off in New England,’’ Revis told the Tampa Tribune. “As soon as you get into the offseason program, it’s non-stop. They want to be winners. They know what I can bring to the table and at the same time, we want to win. As a Jet, we had a rivalry with [the Patriots] and from the outside looking in, I looked at them differently. We respected them, but you want to beat them. Inside looking out now, I’ve got way more respect because I’m there. I get to see everything, how it operates every day.’’

After playing for a 4-12 Bucs team last year and a 6-10 Jets team the year before, Revis is happy to be in a place where he thinks he has a real chance of getting to the Super Bowl for the first time in his career.

“I’m really excited,’’ Revis said. “I went down a list of teams where I thought I could win and New England kind of stuck out for me. It’s been great and I can’t wait for training camp.’’

When he gets to camp, Revis will be a happy camper.

  1. How could he not like it, Revis is now playing for a team that has a legitament chance of going to the SB.

  2. .
Since 2001 the Patriots have 158 regular season wins. That’s an average of over 12 wins for each of the 13 seasons.
    .

  3. What a turnaround for the guy. He goes from one of New England’s biggest rivals to a guy who loves the system and the work ethic the organization brings. He’s humble for the most part and I like his work attitude. Can’t wait to see him in the same defense as Brandon Browner

  4. We havent had a D like this on paper in a long long time….How it translates on the field is another story but I will be front and center section 214 to watch it all unfold first hand. We have had a great run for a very long time and we as Pats fans have been spoiled . Thanks to the Krafts and BB for solid consistant winner !!!!!

  5. A healthy, motivated Revis in New England is a scary concept for that division. I think New England runs away with it this year.

  6. If Revis was really smart, he would have signed a contract that made him a free agent after Week 17 so he could sell his services to the highest bidder for the playoffs.

  7. And zero SB’s for the Vikes since forever. What is the Vikings fans obsession with NE? Other than fleecing them in the Moss trade and pummeling them once every four years, the two have no association. I’m going to enjoy the Pats dusting them this year more than I should.

  8. Possibly because the Vikes play fair and square
When we win there will be no little stars next to title like the pats have.
It’s one thing to cheat and get caught but own up to it all ready..
Lance Armstrong did for crying out loud

  9. Revis is a class act. Liked him in Tampa. He was misused, and wouldn’t fit the scheme now, and not worth $16M a year. So I’ll take Verner and the other top player his cap space let us get. Meanwhile, Revis tends to outgrow his britches after a year or so, so beware in NE. Nothing on Revis, command the money if you can get it…the day will come when teams do close the door.

  10. Please stop with this entire idea about playing for Belichick or having a chance to go to the Super Bowl. The only place Revis is a happy camper is at the bank and we all know it. He’d sign with Fresno State if they paid him more money.

  11. Patriots have won NOTHING since Spygate.JETS beat the pats in playoffs AND advanced further.Rex has a WINNING record over the pats since becoming coach.Finally-JETS are a team on the rise-pats are spiraling downwards. You are a greedy traitor Revis who no longer plays with heart.

  12. last time i checked those 3 rings are legit you can put a star next to the rings in ur private diary makes it special the team of the 2000s….if u aint cheating u aint trying maybe 25 teams where using cameras too since they havent won since spygate

  13. I’ve it before and I’ll say it again. I find it incomprehensible that the Patriots have not won a Super Bowl for a decade, considering they’ve had the best won-loss record, the best coach-QB combination and a ridiculous amount of high draft picks to go with great leadership type and experienced players. I’m sick of bandwagon fans talking about their division and AFC titles. Tired of excuses. Especially losing to arguably inferior talent Giants teams in the big game (hurts 1,000 times worse that it’s a team from New York). Bill won titles with much lesser teams. I’m sure I’ll get called out for this, but this is what true Patriots fans think but just will never say to teams of other fans.

  14. I do have to agree with the Dolphin comment week 1 will be a tough game for both teams. Wow Jets fans are just straight up retarded. Im laughing out loud thinking about the Jets as a team on the rise.

  15. The Patriots had their time. Like the Dallas Cowboys all they have got is some old fans living in past glory. It is over! Revis will not make a difference because he is not a team player. At the first sign of trouble he will bolt for the next team where he thinks he can win.

  16. TO the folks that keep going backwards you must be liberal cuz that s all obama s peeps can talk about is what reagan did in 1984 thats why i cant fix anything.but back to spy gate i will keep telling/ REMINDING people bill cower a well respected coach of the rival steelers said it best last year that spy gate was a non issue that all teams have practice this concept of stelling signs and trying to get the upper hand ,and he said he certainly took signs from other teams when he coached that the patriots were being used bye the NFL as an example with punishment to curtail or make sure this practice that was going on throughout the league at 1 time or an other would stop..so get your info straight and go cheer for your year in and year out bad team the vikes .go back and catch some fish but you should not use your fish depth finder cuz that would be cheating lol..war patriots

  17. This time next year revis will be on a different team! Can’t take him serious anymore! There has been a lot of speculation that him and his agent are an item! He should come clean and out of the closet! Just go look at his twitter pics!

  18. Hate to tell you Pats haters but sideline cameras were not illegal until 2007. The one game you can actually say it was cheating to do it in was game 1 of that season against the Jets.

And maybe hating the Pats lowers your IQ to the point you can’t count. The Pats have gotten to the Super Bowl twice and won more games than any other team since game 1 of 2007. Yeah, the lost those 2 SBs in the final moments after being ahead. And didn’t get blow out in embarrassing fashion like golden boy Payton and the Donks last year.

Bottom line is the Pats have given their fans more and better entertainment than almost any other team the last 14 years.

  19. Perfectionists like Brady and Revis are already at the top of their game — they’ll push each other to even greater heights in the upcoming camp.

It’s possible (even likely) the Pats go undefeated this season. A new dynasty begins.

  20. Dear Patscheatcom the last time the Patriots won a super bowl they had a shutdown corner in Ty Law they where to cheap to him and havent been back or had a healthy shutdown corner since. As for Revis getting beat week one Wallace might get him once, Ill concede that. But with a shutdown corner, Tannehill will see things he has never seen before. With Revis on the field it frees up a safety to do other things. Overall I think the Pats should beat Miami week 1. Not just because of Revis. but arguable one of the better centers in the league wont be playing that game in Pouncey. That pouncey injury is huge. Granted he might only miss 3-4 weeks, but it is still a huge loss for those 3-4 games.

  21. Sounds like the same thing he said when he went to Tampa Bay…How did that work out for you Revis?

  22. Tannehill saw revis last year he tried him and of course got picked off. I really don’t see the Pouncey thing as that big of a loss because he is a center anybody can fill in for the center really if it was a tackle that would be a different story. You guys are going to be without Browner and possibly Gronk. Who knows I look forward to the competition and I would never say the Dolphins are the better team in this situation because of the history and some of the players on your team. I was at the game the last time these teams played week one that sucked Brady had like 550 yards.
