Cowboys guard Ronald Leary has pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated.

Leary, who was scheduled for a trial on the DWI charge this week, instead pleaded guilty and will receive 18 months of probation and a $1,000 fine, according to NBC-5 in Dallas.

“The sentence he received was in line with a typical first-time DWI punishment,” Leary’s attorney told the Dallas Morning News. “It was just a momentary error in judgement that will not be repeated.”

Leary would be subject to league discipline, but players are usually only fined two game checks -- not suspended -- for a first drunk driving offense if they don’t hurt anyone while driving drunk.

The 25-year-old Leary started all 16 games for the Cowboys last year and is expected to start again this year.
