One of the best offensive linemen in Giants history announced his retirement on Monday, but the team isn’t going to be aggressively looking for an offensive lineman to take Chris Snee’s roster spot.

Jordan Raanan of NJ.com reports that Giants co-owner John Mara said Monday that the team is not currently trying to find blocking help in the wake of Snee’s retirement. Snee said during a press conference that he told General Manager Jerry Reese at the end of June that he was thinking about retirement, so the Giants probably would have already acted if they felt they needed more options at right guard heading into the season.

As it stands, Brandon Mosley is the likeliest candidate for the job with John Jerry providing some competition if his knee is recovered from an offseason procedure. Should the Giants find both men lacking, they could revisit things as players from other teams become available later in the summer.

Mara also said that it was just a matter of figuring out a date to induct Snee into the team’s Ring of Honor, where father-in-law Tom Coughlin will surely join him one day as honored members of the franchise.
