Vikings offer single-game tickets Tuesday, with two asterisks

On Sunday, we pointed out that the Colts’ offer of single-game tickets applies to every game except the game against the Patriots, which requires the purchase of a ticket to the preseason game against the Giants.

In an effort to sell tickets for the first of two years played outdoors at the University of Minnesota’s stadium, the Vikings are using that same device, twice. The good news is that the second game in each case isn’t a preseason contest but a regular-season game.

The Vikings have announced the single-game tickets will be available on Tuesday, and that the purchase of tickets to the September 14 visit from the Patriots comes with the purchase of tickets to the December 7 visit from the Jets. Likewise, to get tickets to the November 23 game against the Packers, fans must buy tickets to the September 28 game against the Falcons.

Which means that, for the games against the Patriots and Packers, single-game tickets aren’t available. Instead, it’s a 25-percent season ticket to a place where the Vikings may have a hard time luring customers in the colder months, especially if the team plays more like it did in 2013 and 2011 and less like it did in 2012.
