DeMarcus Ware has a lower leg injury

AP

During his time with the Cowboys, defensive end/linebacker DeMarcus Ware played through plenty of injuries.  He’s already dealing with one in Denver.

Ware was held out for roughly half of Sunday’s practice due to what coach John Fox called a lower leg injury.  Fox told reporters it doesn’t appear to be serious.

Of course, “doesn’t appear” leaves the window slightly open for the possibility that it is.  And as Broncos fans learned four years ago with former Denver pass-rusher Elvis Dumervil, a season-ending injury can happen out of nowhere in the early stages of training camp.

  1. It’s a lower leg bruise officially. Not a lower leg “injury.” A bruise…….

  2. First the gullible Redskins see Hatcher go to the PUP list for 6 weeks and now predictably, Ware limps through camp with nagging injuries.

Just give Jerry a call if you want any more over priced has beens.

  3. Broncos traded away their best player to the Jets! Now we will win the Super Bowl this year along with CJ2K, Vick, Smith, and our No. 1 defense! Broncos are stuck with choker Manning, who was barely better than Ryan Leaf!

  4. It may prove to be wrong but I think the Broncos should have signed Jared Allen over Ware. Ware has been breaking down over the past couple seasons.

  5. I don’t know where Dallas defence will be ranked this season. But I know it want be last.and besides, we own the NFC East. Redskins, Giants and especially the scrub Eagles. They get nothing but a ” Beat Down”.

  6. Learn about contracts and cap movement before you say the Broncos are risking they’re future. All the contracts are front loaded because they had extra cap space for the next 2-3 years. If these guys don’t work out they just have to cut them, there’s nearly no dead money involved. They actually made awesome moves for guys that more than likely will produce in the beginning of the contract then be able to dump them for next to nothing. The Broncos mortgaged nothing for the future, now if they all absolute suck/don’t play in the next 2-3 years then we payed a lot of money for nothing, but the future is still very bright for the Broncos as long as Osweiler develops. If he doesn’t the O will be in a bit of a re-loading mode. Elway and co have done an awesome job building this team and unfortunately for you Broncos haters, they will continue to do so. We also have 2-3 left out of Manning and could draft the next great one in that time frame. Last I checked plenty of great QBs weren’t drafted in the top 5, since we’ll be picking in the 29th-32nd range for that time span. We still have plenty of time to figure out life after Manning.

  7. Oh by the way, Oakland signed all those older guys to very short term contracts. Which will leave plenty of Money in the future! Did you happen to take a look at Oakland’s Draft board? Good! Really good! They will be an elite team 2,3 years from now! I’m not a Raiders fan! Just a Football fan.

  8. Dallas, one of the worst defenses in history, gave him away for nothing for what reason?

Ummm, because he was part of the worst Defense in history? Dude had 6 sacks and 28 tackles last year, so he was a huge part of the problem too.

Dallas, through bad cap management, had a choice to keep on a bad path or cut him. It’s just that simple. He was asked to take a pay cut and he refused, rightly so as Denver paid him a little more than he was due this year anyway. After next year Dallas should be in really good shape cap wise, even with many players due second contracts. I see Dez and Tyron getting big deals, but there are a few players that are up in the air.

  11. Cowboys have a younger, healthier sackmaster named Demarcus at that position now. He really likes to celebrate too after breaking qb’s in half. These young gunners on Cowboys D should be fun.

  12. I’m sorry if DeMarcus got injured, or if it’s just a bruise like the above poster said, it’s cool, he’ll be fine. Always liked him, very good player.

That said, when are the bronco’s going to get a real qb?

    43 -8….laughable

  13. Obviously the Cowboys had concerns about him staying healthy. NFL stars can fade quickly once injuries even nagging little ones add up. That’s why what teams sometimes look like on paper don’t always pan out.

    1. Dallas gave nothing away, they released him because he wouldn’t take a pay cut.

    2. Denver paid him more than what he’s worth

    3. please get your facts straight before u comment on these things.

  15. D-Ware… one damn-fine Cowboy. Sorry to see he’s hurt, but doesn’t sound serious. Too bad he had to play under El Generalissimo-Manager BossHawg Jones…

And DJ Hayden just rolled his ankle. Officially.

  18. shatho1, I think slick50ks was being sarcastic when he said:

“Dallas, one of the worst defenses in history, gave him away for nothing for what reason?”

Of course, they ‘gave him away’ because he’s on the downside of his career and injury prone. You’re both right. Denver over paid as well. It would take a fool to not know what happened here.

The truth behind it all, ol Jerry has made some football moves this offseason and should be cut a little slack. Picture it this way, Jerry of old would have signed Ware to a new 10 year deal, re-signed Hatcher long-term and drafted Manziel.

I’ll take Romo, DeMarcus Lawrence, Henry Melton, and Zack Martin all day. Much more upside.

  19. To all the cowboy fans that are trying to justify losing all there D players from last year, and now saying “i told you so” on demarcus ware. I have one thing to say. Make the playoffs!

  20. @1broncos247

The Broncos mortgaged their future not by the contract structure, but by the fact the built their team with old Free Agents (Ware, Welker, Manning, Tamme, Ramirez etc etc) rather than young talent.

Theyre risking their future because of the sudden drop off of starters they will have. No amount of money can buy a roster.

  21. Manning is the most OVERRATED qb in HISTORY along with Brady. One of them CHOKES when it matters most-and the other one has won absolutely NOTHING since the answers to the test were taken away from him (Spygate).Even ‘The Buttfumbler’ Sanchez beat BOTH of them in back to back playoff games a few years back-in thier own house! Im so sick of these cream puffs being heralded as the best-when the truth is-they are average at best.

  22. Coaches told him “Look …we really need to sell this injury excuse when we don’t make the playoffs this year and we need your help. So you are going to have nagging injuries all year whether you like it or not. Just shut up and collect your paycheck.”
Ware “Okay coach, you can count on me.”

  23. Funny how some say Denvers risking their future…when obviously Denver’s depth is extremely deep…teams are salivating for the players we will eventually cut…same scenario with Seattle!
