In 2009, it looked like Nu’Keese Richardson was set for big things at the University of Tennessee.

He decided to play for Lane Kiffin in Knoxville after being wooed hard by Urban Meyer and the University of Florida, but his bright future dimmed quickly. Richardson was arrested for armed robbery in November of his freshman year and promptly kicked off the team, sending him on a tour of lower level college football interspersed with a couple of years where he didn’t play any football at all.

He wrapped up his collegiate career with a strong year as a receiver and kick returner at NAIA school Pikeville in 2013, but went undrafted in May and made the rounds trying to land a chance to compete for a job in training camp. That effort ended on Sunday when Richardson signed with the Colts, who got strong play from another exiled Volunteer last season when wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers jumped into an injury-riddled receiving corps.

The Colts also signed former L.A. Kiss linebacker Shawn Loiseau, waived-injured cornerback Brandon Burton and waived wide receiver Greg Moore.
