49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith, who potentially faces NFL discipline after a series of off-field incidents, recently huddled with commissioner Roger Goodell, multiple media outlets reported Thursday night.

According to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, 49ers G.M. Trent Baalke indicated Smith and Goodell had met. Baalke would not disclose when the meeting took place, according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Smith has not played in the 49ers’ preseason opener at Baltimore on Thursday night, according to Maiocco.

A meeting with Goodell can be a prelude to a decision on NFL discipline. Smith pled no contest to a DUI charge and three weapons-related counts in May.
