Rugby player’s season ends in Indy

Adongo

Last year, the ability and willingness of Colts G.M. Ryan Grigson to turn over any and all rocks in search of potential talent led him to the Southern Kings of Super 15 Rugby and linebacker Daniel Adongo.

This year, Adongo won’t play for the Colts, and probably not for anyone else.

After suffering a biceps injury during Thursday night’s preseason opener, Adongo has been waived with the “injured” designation. If he isn’t claimed by another team, he’ll revert to Indy’s injured reserve list for the rest of the year.

Adongo appeared in two games last year, playing special teams only.

The Colts also waived-injured defensive tackle Jeris Pendleton and reached an injury settlement with cornerback Brandon Burton, a fifth-round pick of the Vikings in 2011. Former L.A. Kiss guard Chad Anderson was simply cut.

The Colts filled the net gain of three roster spots by signing center Thomas Austin, guard Marcus Hall, and receiver Nu’Keese Richardson. All three previously have spent time with the team.
