On Monday, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said that running back Toby Gerhart could return to practice on Tuesday after missing the first preseason game and several practice with a hip flexor injury.

It may not come as much of a surprise given his job, but it seems Bradley has good sources when it comes to the inner workings of the team. Mark Long of the Associated Press reports that Gerhart is back on the practice field and going through Tuesday’s workout.

Bradley didn’t rule Gerhart out of Thursday’s game, so he may get his first game action as a member of the Jaguars against the Bears if the return to practice goes off without a hitch. All signs point to a very big role for Gerhart, who signed a three-year deal with the team as a free agent, once the regular season gets underway, so he may not get much work if he does play against the Bears as the Jags try to keep their running back situation from looking like the one that has developed at wide receiver.

Denard Robinson led the Jaguars in rushing against the Buccaneers, gaining 36 yards, while Storm Johnson led the team with nine carries.
