The 49ers made a change to their depth chart at inside linebacker on Wednesday, announcing the signing of ex-Steeler Kion Wilson and the placement of Blake Costanzo on injured reserve.

A third-year pro from South Florida, the 27-year-old Wilson figures to play a similar role to Costanzo, contributing on special teams while trying to earn a reserve role on defense.

The 6-foot-1, 239-pound Wilson appeared in seven games for the Steelers in 2013, starting two games in September before becoming a backup. He has also had stints with the Chargers (2010) and Panthers (2011). Wilson has played in 15 regular season games since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent with San Diego four years ago.
